DRACUT, MA - Richard Adams, 86, died peacefully, Tuesday, March 20th, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Elie) Adams.
Richard was born in Lowell, on August 6, 1931, a son of the late Sophia (Tarsa) and Frank Adams. He was a graduate of Lowell High School. Upon graduation, Richard entered the United States Coast Guard where he served his country proudly during the Korean War. After the war he got his first job as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington D.C.
He then worked as an administrator and supply technician for the Department of Defense in the U.S. Army Reserve, where he worked for 30 years. Richard was also a retired Greater Lowell Technical High School Security Guard.
In his free time, Richard enjoyed trips to Foxwoods. He was also an avid New England sports fan. Richard also enjoyed coaching Dracut Recreational Baseball.
Richard is survived and will be deeply missed by his daughter, Karen Zapatka and her husband Robert of Milford, NH; son, Richard Adams and his wife Maryann of Manchester, NH; sister, Olga J. Grandchamp of Newport, RI; and granddaughter Taryn Adams also of Manchester, NH.
He was predeceased by his brother, Donald J. Adams.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on SUNDAY, March 25th, from 4 - 7 p.m. at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut, MA. His funeral will be held MONDAY, March 26th, in the funeral home at 9 a.m, followed by his burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Lowell.
