Real N. Banville of Dracut, MA passed away Sunday afternoon, October 28, 2018, peacefully surrounded by his family. Real was born in Lowell, MA on April 28, 1928, the son of the late Alphonse and Aurore (Racette) Banville, residing in the Pawtucketville section of Lowell for 26 years prior to his marriage to Frances (Silva) Banville in 1954 until his time of death.
Mr. Banville had lived in Dracut, MA from 1957 to present. He was educated in the Lowell school system and graduated from Lowell High School after returning from military service, where he served during WWII, in the Philippine Islands and Okinawa.
Mr. Banville served proudly in the U.S. Army’s 318 1st. Signal Service Company and served his country honorably receiving the WWII Victory and Special Forces commendations. Upon returning from the military, Mr. Banville continued his career at Fort Devens, Ayer, MA for the next 37 years where he received numerous promotional positions, commendations and awards. Mr. Banville retired from Fort Devens in1983 as a Manager of the Storage and Supply Division. During his life, Mr. Banville enjoyed traveling with his wife and family to Hampton Beach, Cape Cod, Florida and many parts of the United States, as well as Portugal and Spain.
Mr. Banville was an avid military collector, traveling to military shows with his two sons and friends. Proudly scoring rare military collectibles from the Civil war up to the Vietnam war was a passion of his as well as tending to his beautiful gardens and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed his time at the Dracut Senior Center with his friends, bowling and going on excursions. It was an important part of his life in retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Frances (Silva) Banville, two daughters, Susan (Banville) Draper and her husband Warren, of Lowell, Karen (Banville) Hoots and her husband, Mark of Dracut, and two sons, Richard Banville of Dracut and Stephen Banville and his wife, Kristen (Barrett) Banville, of Hudson, NH. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Patrick Draper of Lowell, MA, Jessica Draper of Denver, CO, Christian Hoots, of Dracut, Dylan Hoots of Dorchester, MA, and Brandon Hoots of Dracut, MA.
Mr. Banville was predeceased by; his brother Alban Banville of Lowell MA and his sister-in-law Aline, his sister Yvette Lebedin of Connecticut, his brother Yvan Banville of Lowell and his niece, Dolores Bromley of Connecticut. Mr. Banville also leaves behind his beloved nieces and a nephew, Jacqueline Struck of Indiana, Sandra Crocker of Connecticut, and Richard Lebedin of Georgia.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 5th at 10AM in St. Marguerite D’Youville Church, Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His burial to follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery Chapel.
