Albertino Manuel Mendonca Obituary (1962 - 2024)

Albertino Manuel Mendonca, age 62, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully at Massachusetts General Hospital on July 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family and friends after a battle with cancer. He was born in Graciosa, Azores, Portugal on February 21, 1962 and was the son of Quelminda Mendonsa (Veiga) and the late Manual Mendonsa. Al moved to Lowell, Massachusetts when he was four years old. Growing up he was an altar boy at St. Anthonys Church. He was always a family centered man. He loved cars and as a teen he enjoyed racing cars with his brothers. As an adult he enjoyed riding his motorcycle and traveling internationally with his girlfriend, Maria. He went on many cross country trips with his son, Adam. He enjoyed skiing and a brief stint of snowboarding, which was influenced by his children. He was an avid Boston sports fan and loved watching and attending sporting events with his son, Adam. He was a third degree black belt and taught karate. He loved the beach and spending time with his family. He was thoughtful and extremely selfless, always willing to offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved being a Dad and most recently a Grandpa to his grandson, Carter. He was an amazing friend, son, brother, dad, grandpa, and uncle. He will be extremely missed. Al was a very technical person. He graduated from Merrimack College with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering. He was known to be a problem solver and extremely detail oriented. He was fully dedicated to anything he did. Al is survived by his children, Taylor Mendonca and her partner Michael Eyssi, grandson Carter Eyssi, and grandpups Olive and Chewy; Adam Mendonca and his partner Taylor Snyder; Al leaves behind his girlfriend Maria Schuster and her daughter, a dear friend to Al, Cristie Schuster. He is also survived by his brothers and sister, Joe Mendonca and his wife Lorna; Dave Mendonca and his wife Kathleen; Bob Mendonsa and his partner Terri; and Maria Mendonsa. Al is survived by his friend and former wife Lynn Mendonca and family, sister in law, Gayle Dawson Bradbury, brother in law Dave Bradbury, and Peggy Dawson, mother in law, whom he was still very close with. He leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 9th, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT. His Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday at 10am at St. Anthony Parish, 893 Central St., LOWELL. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Tewksbury. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations may be made in his memory to American Parkinson Disease Association or the American Cancer Society.
