Barbara A. Bellerose

–

Lowell, Massachusetts

Barbara A. (Wood) Bellerose, loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on August 28, 2026, at the High Pointe House, Haverhill.

A lifelong resident of Lowell, she was born January 21,1937, the daughter of the late George and Winifred (Moran) Wood. She attended St. Patrick’s and Lowell High School. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond F. Bellerose, with whom she shared 69 years of marriage until his passing in 2024.

Barbara was a woman of faith and a proud communicant of St. Michael’s Church. Blessed with a beautiful soprano voice, she sang in the church choir for years. As a talented seamstress, she worked at Lowell Lingerie, KGR, and White Lace Formal Bridal Shop. She was a longtime member of the Dracut Arts and Craft Guild with her lifelong friend, Jane Pappas. Her quilting was a work of art, and she loved to crochet blankets.

She loved summer fun with family and friends at Hampton Beach, swimming in the surf, and eating fried seafood. Following Ray and Barbara’s retirement, they enjoyed trips to the Beacon Hotel, Florida, and the Caribbean. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her children, Elaine and her husband, Dan Dalton, of Chelmsford; Ann Marie and her husband, Mike Maher, of Rindge, NH; Karen and her husband, Jack Dolan, of Lowell; and Michelle and her husband, Mark MacDonald, of Dracut. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews near and far.

Also surviving her are her beloved sister and best friend, Winnie Casale of Lawrence, sisters-in-law Irene Pratt, Gabe Bellerose, and Barbara Wood; brother-in-law Gerard Bellerose and his wife, Doris; and daughter-in-law, Charlene Bellerose.

In addition to her loving husband, Barbara is predeceased by her son, Raymond Bellerose Jr.; her brothers, George, Robert, and Joseph Wood; her sisters, Theresa Crevier and Patricia Richardson; and brothers-in-law Peter Casale, Bob Crevier, and James Richardson.

The family would like to thank Dr. Jessica Wieselquist and the staff at Stony Brook Primary Care in Chelmsford, Benchmark Chelmsford Crossing, and High Pointe House for the compassionate care they provided to Barbara.

Barbara was a devoted, loving wife and mother who built a beautiful and loving home. She leaves a legacy of unwavering devotion and unconditional love for her family.
