Bette-Gail Strong Obituary (1945

Bette-Gail (Arnold) Strong, 75, a lifelong resident of Lowell passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Richard Strong with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. She was born in Lowell on May 25, 1945, a daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Hopkins) Arnold. Bette-Gail was raised and educated in Lowell. She graduated from Lowell High School and then continued her education by enrolling in the nursing program at Tewksbury State Hospital. She went on to work in the maternity unit at Lowell General hospital, were she taught birthing classes for many years, before taking a position in the Nephrology Department at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, she worked there for 12 years prior to her retirement. Bette-Gail was devoted to her faith and was a longtime member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was an avid doll collector, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, decorating her home and traveling. She went on numerous cruises to her favorite place, Bermuda as well as Hawaii, Venezuela, St. Martin, St. Thomas, Austria, Switzerland and London. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. They will forever remember her kind heart and feisty nature and passion for adventure. In addition to her loving husband Richard, Bette-Gail leaves her three children; Sheryl A. Mone and her husband Charles of Lowell, Richard Strong, Jr. and his wife Janice of Chelmsford and Jeffrey Strong and his wife Julie of Westford, eight grandchildren, two great grand-daughters, two sisters; Ruth Martin of Hudson, NH and June Whiting of Blythe, CA., a brother; Robert Arnold, Jr. of Dacula, GA and four nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, February 21st from 2-5pm at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, DRACUT. To ensure the safety of all, COVID-19 social distancing measures will be in place and face coverings are kindly required. Her Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 22nd at 10am in the funeral home. Interment to follow at Westlawn II Cemetery, Lowell.
