James J. Crear

James J. Crear, age 81, a longtime resident of Pelham, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Patricia J. (Sherry) Crear, with whom he shared 56 wonderful years of marriage.

Jim was born in South Boston on June 2, 1945, to the late John Joseph Crear and Constance (Amori) Crear. At an early age, he moved to Billerica, Massachusetts, where he spent his formative years.

Jim built a successful career in information technology, spending the final 18 years of his professional life as Director of Information Technology at Corero Network Security. He took great pride in his work and remained dedicated to his career throughout his life.

A proud veteran, Jim honorably served two tours in the United States Navy.

Among his many pleasures was his dream house, his car, coffee and Keno with the guys at 7-Eleven, and to the delight of the neighborhood on Halloween he dressed up as the Knights Templar. He was also a big fan of Manchester's Palace Theatre and especially loved A Christmas Carol and its iconic character, Ebenezer Scrooge.

Above all, Jim cherished his family and the life he built with those he loved. He will be remembered for his dedication, his distinctive personality, his sense of humor, and the many wonderful memories he leaves behind – his family always came first.

In addition to his loving wife, Patricia, Jim is survived by his two sons, James Scott Crear and his wife, Laurie, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Christopher John Crear and his wife, Katie, of Pelham, New Hampshire, and his four beloved grandchildren, Kaylyn, Chloe, MacKenzie, and Colby, who brought great joy to his life. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Dave Crear of Chelmsford and Chris Crear of Colorado.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Avenue, Dracut, Massachusetts. His funeral service and interment will be held privately.
