Maria da Luz (Silva) Freitas Obituary (1942 - 2025)

Maria da Luz (Silva) Freitas, 82, a resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jose De Freitas. She was born on November 20, 1942, in Madeira, Portugal, and was the daughter of the late Joao and Carolina (DaSilva) Andrade. She is survived by two of her 6 siblings. Maria loved to bake and share her recipes. We can't wait to make her carrot cake again. We have so many of her crochet & needlepoint pieces to remind us of her. She loved taking care of her flowers and plants in the yard and hanging out with her dog, Kiko. She also loved playing Bingo! Maria is survived by her children Joe (Niki) Freitas and Sidonia (Tony) Conceicao; and her grandchildren Daniel, Sarah, Alexa, Sidonia, Natalia & Adriana. She is also lovingly remembered by the rest of her family Cecilia (Manuel) Sequeira, Michelle (Jay) Wesley & Jennifer (Thom) Plunkett. Maria's warmth, spirit & laughter will be profoundly missed but will live on forever in our hearts. Memorial donations may be made in Maria's name to the Lowell General Cancer Center, Director of Cancer Services, Amanda Ford, Lowell General Hospital Cancer Services, 295 Varnum Ave. Lowell, MA 01854. A private service will be held to celebrate Maria's life and honor her memory with a shot of Poncha!
