Michael John Cahill

–

Dracut, MA

Michael John Cahill, 65, a longtime resident of Dracut, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lori A. (Pritchard) Cahill with whom he would have shared 23 years of marriage in May.

He was born in Lowell on December 25, 1958, and was the son of the late Gerald and Helen (Braczyk) Cahill.

Mike graduated from Greater Lowell Technical School in 1976. He spent 36 years working for the Town of Dracut Department of Public Works, moving up through the ranks to become the General Foreman and retired in July of 2021. His dedication to his job was always above and beyond and he took pride in his efforts. Mike was also a Constable for the Town of Dracut.

Mike was a proud Life member of the Centralville Sportsmen's Club since 1976 and was the caretaker there for several years. He was very active in all of the events there. He was also a proud life member of the NRA, where he focused on gun safety.

Mike was an avid gardener and could be found nurturing his plantings during the growing season. He was particularly proud of his Carolina reaper hot peppers that he would dry and grind them into pepper powder. His favorite place was to be home and in his garden or wood pile.

Mostly, Mike will be sorely missed for his kindness, generosity, his quiet, soft demeanor, his love for his family, friends, his country, and any canine that crossed his path.

The family would like to express their gratitude to everyone at Tufts Medical Center in Boston for their compassion and expert care.

In addition to his loving wife, Michael leaves his siblings, Gerry Cahill and his wife Anne Cahill of Mashpee, and Lisa Desrosiers and her husband Mike of Falmouth, ME; his brothers-in-law, Bob Pritchard of Forestport, NY, and Craig Pritchard of Bridgewater, NY; his nieces and nephews, Hayley Cahill of Mashpee, Elle Desrosiers of Falmouth, ME, CJ Pritchard of Bridgewater, NY, and McKenzie Pritchard of Bridgewater, NY; as well as numerous cousins.

A Celebration of Mikes life will be held in the spring. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the Chesapeake Area Alaskan Malamute Protection at chaamp.org or to Tunnels to Towers at T2T.org.
