Nathaniel J. “Nat” Whelton Obituary (1979 - 2022)

Nathaniel J. Nat Whelton, 42, of Tyngsborough, MA, and a longtime resident of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Friday, January 21, 2022. Born in Methuen on September 24, 1979, Nat was the son of Georgia (Athenais) Whelton and the late David J. Whelton. He grew up in Tyngsborough and graduated from Tyngsborough High School in 1998. He furthered his education at Brooklyn College, where he studied communications. Nats first love music led him to a job in New York City at a small record label, starting a career in an industry in which he stayed active throughout his time in New York and left a lasting mark. He would eventually start his own label, and DJed at clubs across the city while also working as a real estate broker. But most important to Nat was his family, and he cherished his frequent visits home, before moving back to Massachusetts permanently in 2020. In addition to his loving mother, Nat is survived by an aunt and uncle, Frances and Thomas Murphy of Dracut, MA, and a cousin and best friend Matthew Murphy, his wife Coleen Elstermeyer, and their son Elliott of Hingham, MA.
