Blatus, 91, died Sunday, July 31, 2016 at Lowell General Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Antonia Blatus, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage until her passing last year. Born in Lowell on March 15, 1925, he was a son of the late William and Irene (Klemenakos) Blatus. Nickoles spent his career working as a mechanic, and owned two gas stations between 1953 and 1972, until he went on to work for Hallisey Chevrolet. He also was a proud 32nd degree Mason. In his spare time, Nickoles enjoyed working in his garden. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan and enjoyed watching games on television, but above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, particularly his granddaughters and great granddaughter. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his four children, Michael Blatus and his wife Melissa of Dracut, Irene Kaltsas of Dracut, Katharine Maille and her husband Richard of Tyngsboro, and Georgia Demopoulos and her husband Gary of Dracut; a brother, Michael Blatus of Dracut; and his five granddaughters, Alexis, Stephanie, Julia, Mikaela, and McKenzie; as well as a great granddaughter, Gabrielle. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his two sisters, Angeline Papanotas, and Eva Panagis. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., DRACUT, from 4 to 8 p.m. on WEDNESDAY, August 3rd. His funeral will be held from the funeral home at 9 a.m. on THURSDAY, August 4th with his funeral service directly following at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Lowell.
