Norman J. Cox Obituary (1932 - 2015)

Cox, Sr., died peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Madeline H. (Martin) Cox, with whom he spent many loving years of marriage with until her passing in 1996. Born in Lowell, MA on July 19, 1932, he was a son of the late Thomas F. and Eva L. (Collins) Cox. Norman proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War until he was honorably discharged in 1954, and awarded a Purple Heart. Prior to his retirement, Norman worked as a Blacksmith for Fletcher's Quarry in Westford, MA for over 50 years. Norman was a skilled woodworker and will always be remembered for the remarkable things he created such as picnic tables, bat houses, and wishing wells. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he truly adored. He is survived and will be deeply missed by his three children, Eva Girolamo and her husband Mark, Norman Cox, Jr., and Michael Cox, all of Dracut, MA; five grandchildren, Andrea, Lindsay, Steven, Corey, and Jason; and three great grandchildren, Tony, Elena, and Angela. In addition to his wife, Norman was predeceased by his three siblings, Thomas Cox, Donald Cox, and Dorothy Dalphond. ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are invited to pay their respects from 4 to 7 p.m. on TUESDAY, July 28th, at the DRACUT FUNERAL HOME, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His funeral will be held WEDNESDAY at 8 a.m. from the funeral home, with his Funeral Mass following at 9 a.m. in St. Francis Church, Dracut. Burial will be held in Varnum Cemetery, Dracut.
