Normand Joseph Daigle Obituary (1929 - 2024)

Normand J. Daigle, 94, a longtime resident of Dracut, loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024. He was the beloved husband of the late Catherine (Hancox) Daigle with whom he celebrated over fifty years of marriage and raised four children. He was born in Lowell on August 7, 1929, and was the son of the late Wilbrod and Clara (Lemieux) Daigle. Normand was a member of the Saint Mary Magdalen Parish. He was revered as a man of strong convictions and believed in the rewards of hard work. Normand was a Corporal in the United States Army and a veteran of the Korean War. He began his career working at the A & P in his early youth and retired from Market Basket after dedicating 33 years of service. Normand was esteemed by his colleagues, and its been said by former employees that they credit him for their success. He reveled in the joys of his family and had a gentleness about him that touched all who knew him. He is fondly remembered as a man with drive, but Normand enjoyed life through music, dancing the Polka with his late wife, working in his yard, and most notably through the joy that his family brought to him. Normands greatest accomplishment is the legacy he leaves behind which will endure through generations to come. Normand is survived by his children, Leila Pelosi of Chelmsford, Linda Southworth and her husband Bryan of Lowell, David Daigle and his wife Cilena of Nashua, NH, and Marie Geoffroy and former son-in-law Roland Geoffroy of Dracut; his granddaughters, Becky, Julia, Samantha, Haley and Alayna, his grandsons Bryan, Jeff, Caden, and Lucas as well as ten great grandchildren. Normand leaves behind his brother Donald Daigle of Tyngsboro, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Catherine, Normand is predeceased by his sister Loretta OBrien, his son-in-law Lawrence Pelosi, and his granddaughter Katherine Hoeber. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4 7 pm at the Dracut Funeral Home, 2159 Lakeview Ave., Dracut. His Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 12 Noon at St. Mary Magdalen Church, 95 Lakeview Ave., Tyngsborough. Interment to follow in St. Josephs Cemetery, Chelmsford.
