Panagiotis “Peter” Venetis Obituary (1946 - 2024)

Panagiotis Peter Venetis, 78 years old, cherished husband, father, and Pappou, passed peacefully on Tuesday October 29, 2024 surrounded by his loving family following his heroic battle with cancer. Born on June 18, 1946 in Thirion Greece, he was the second son of the late Athanasios and Georgia (Kastanou) Venetis. He met his wife Maria (Tsirigotis) in Athens and the two wed on May 6, 1973. They immigrated to Lowell, MA shortly after to start a new life and raise their family. A longtime resident of Lowell, Peter loved this city almost as much as his homeland but he carried Greece with him always. Peter was a skilled carpenter by trade and learned his craft as a young man in Greece. Upon moving to Lowell, he started working at the Prince Spaghetti Factory until he could open his own pizza businesses (Peters Pizza in Lowell and Groton; Artys Roastbeef in Haverhill). He worked tirelessly to provide his children with everything. He was the best in the west. Food was always his passion, whether it was making pizzas, grilling cheeseburgers or simply enjoying a delicious bowl of fasolada - nothing made him happier than sharing a meal surrounded by those he loved the most. He also loved nature and being outdoors: tending to his garden, spending time in the White Mountains, going fishing, and taking walks along the boulevard. But what gave him the most joy out of anything else in this world were his grandchildren. They were the center of his universe. Hearing one of them call out Pappou or Yioti lit up his face and those bright blue eyes like nothing else could. He savored every single moment with them, and they are without a doubt his proudest accomplishments and the legacy that he leaves behind. In addition to his sweetheart Maria, Peter is survived by his children Athanasios Venetis and his wife Shalene of Trumbull CT, Georgia Dellas and her husband Gregory of Lowell MA, and Voula Venetis of Lowell MA; his treasured grandchildren Elias and Maria Dellas, and Penelope and Veronica Venetis; as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends both here and in Greece. He was predeceased by his parents; father and mother in-law Petros and Panagiota (Horikis) Tsirigotis; brother Christos Venetis; cousin Grigorios Venetis; and brothers in-law Alekos, Nikos, and George Tsirigotis. Visitation will be held on Saturday November 2, 2024, from 9:30am to 10:30am at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Rd., Dracut followed by his Funeral Service.
