Billierica, Massachusetts
Patricia Rae MacPhail (Fielding), 72, of Dracut, passed away on Saturday December 5th at Brightview Assisted Living Facility in Billerica.
Patricia was born in Lowell, MA on April 27, 1948, daughter of the late Dorothy Fielding (Salisbury) and Harry C. Fielding. She grew up in Billerica and graduated from Billerica High School.
Pat loved the outdoors, spending many summers camping in the White Mountains and visiting Cape Cod, York Beach, and Sebago and Long Lake in Maine. Pat took joy in the little things and could always be found by the pool, in the garden or on her daily walk. Her greatest joy however, was spending time with her children and grandchildren, who she always made her highest priority. Family was everything to Pat; she was always the first to celebrate a special milestone or lend a helping hand, regardless of what was going on in her life. Pats love for others and selfless nature also poured into her community where she drove a special needs school bus for over 25 years. She developed a bond with many of the children she drove and that relationship always extended to their families. Pat also spent several years as a foster parent and devoted countless hours to the S.T.E.P. organization where she supported her son Michael and the special needs adults, children and their families in the Greater Lowell area. Pat relished in every aspect of volunteering; she was the one you could count on, always eager to lend a hand and welcoming all with her warm smile. Although she was not an outwardly expressive person, her actions spoke louder than any words ever could have; simply put, Pat just had a way of making a big impact in such little time. Her humble nature and sincere generosity are just a few of the many qualities that made her so special and loved by all.
Pat is survived by three children, Richard Howe and his wife Kaila, her son Michael Howe, and her daughter Lisa Howe; Two grandchildren, Brandon Howe, Kyra Meli and her husband Joe; One Great-grandchild, Colby Meli. Siblings; Nancy Purman, Peggy Hobbs, Eileen MacPhail, and Jim Fielding. Pat is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, who looked at Auntie Pop as a second mom whom she loved as her own.
Pat was predeceased by her brother Harry Fielding, and her husband Kenneth MacPhail.
