Sotirios M. Botsis Obituary (1933 - 2023)

Sotirios M. Botsis, age 90, a cherished and longtime resident of Dracut, peacefully passed away at his home on Saturday, September 2, 2023, enveloped in the love of his devoted family. He was the beloved husband of Kleopatra (Kostarellis) Botsis, with whom he shared a remarkable 65 years of marriage. Born in the serene village of Flambouro, Florina, Greece, on May 25, 1933, he was the beloved son of the late Michael and Dafne (Styliades) Botsis. Sotirios spent the first 33 years of his life in Flambouro, where his hands crafted beauty in carpentry, and his heart nurtured apple and pear orchards. In 1966, he embarked on a journey to Rochester, New York, where he dedicated himself to General Dynamics until his well-earned retirement. Throughout his remarkable journey, he found solace and purpose in tending to his garden and was a devoted member of the Greek Orthodox Church in every place he called home. His heart was forever connected to the community, as he poured his boundless generosity into countless charities. In his leisure hours, Sotirios was a doting grandfather, tirelessly dedicating countless moments to care for and share laughter with his adoring grandchildren. In addition to his loving wife, Sotirios is survived by his daughter, Dafni Kothari, and her husband S.P. of Lexington, MA and his son Michael and his wife Natasha of Dracut, MA. He is also survived by cherished grandchildren: Monica Kothari and her husband Blake Sotern of Boston, Kavita Hatipoglu and her husband Saruhan of Virginia, Sam Botsis, Chloe Botsis and two precious great-grandchildren: Aydin and Ezgi Hatipoglu. His legacy of love extends to his dear sister, Anastasia Gogos and her husband Nick of Flambouro, Greece, and a multitude of nieces and nephews in Rochester and Flambouro. He was preceded in death by two loving sisters, Olympia (Botsis) Zografos and Maria (Botsis) Nichols as well as his brother-in-law Nick Nichols. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, September 11th from 10am to 11am at the Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 1160 Mammoth Rd., Dracut followed by his Funeral Service at 11am.
